Correlations Company has developed expertise in both computer and laboratory applications to solve oilfield reservoir and production problems. Our focus is transferring numerical and laboratory research results to field applications. Established in 1995, Correlations Company is the outgrowth of 15 years of computer applications to investigate the spatial distributions of reservoir parameters, correlations between petrophysical logs and cores, as well as between petrophysical logs and production. Recently methodologies for the use of surfactants to improve oil and gas recovery via reservoir wettability alteration were explored. Methods to prevent and mitigate sodium chloride deposition in gas wells were developed. The initial emphasis on geostatistics has now evolved into the application of artificial intelligence (AI) for various E&P studies.

Correlations Company maintains a leading position in investigating new concepts through research grants awarded by Department of Energy, Gas Storage Technology Consortium, and Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America. For example, the Company developed a geostatistical mapping software called GViz that has proved useful in estimating interwell reservoir properties and identifying the variability in regional trends. The goal of this work was to improve the likelihood of drilling good wells. A recent R&D project involved the development of a method to predict the success of well stimulation via surfactant soak treatments. Currently the Company is researching the application of A.I. to correlate mud log and drilling information with porosity and saturations from petrophysical logs. Fuzzy ranking and neural networks (AI tools) were used to generate the predictive algorithms.
