| About Correlations Company
Correlations Company is focused on transferring numerical and laboratory experimental results to field applications. Established in 1995, Correlations Company is the outgrowth of 15 years of computer applications to investigate the spatial distributions of reservoir parameters. The initial emphasis on geostatistics has now evolved into the application of artificial intelligence (AI) for various E&P studies. Correlations Company maintains a leading position in applying new concepts to reservoir characterization through U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) research grants (ten grants and contracts through September 2004). For example, the Company developed a geostatistical mapping software called GViz that has proved useful in estimating interwell reservoir properties and identifying the variability in regional trends. The goal of this work was to improve the likelihood of drilling good wells. A recent R&D project involved the development of a method to predict the success of well stimulation via surfactant soak treaments. Fuzzy ranking and neural networks (AI tools) were used to generate the predictive algorithms. Located in the small college town of Socorro, New Mexico (75 miles south of Albuquerque), the Company's facilities include a high speed wireless internet connection. This facilitates the transmission of large datasets. The Company has experience in cost compliance and the administration of large DOE projects. The Company currently has 6 employees specializing in oil and gas contracts, research and development, and software development. William W. Weiss, the founder of Correlations Company, is the project lead. Xina Xie, research scientist, deals with design and execution of laboratory experiments. Nancy J. Weiss, secretary/treasurer, handles cash flow and record keeping for the company. William R. Christy administers the company's DOE contracts. Jason W. Weiss, software technician, handles data analysis and assimilation. Visveswaran Subramaniam, petroleum engineer, is charged with data analysis and assimilation. |
